This country lodge offers sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and is nearby several state parks and local wineries, including the Mendocino Wine Company across the street. Other attractions in the area are the Railroad Gulch Museum and Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens both within eight miles of the hotel. Tour companies in Mendocino Village offer horseback rides on the beach and excursions to see the giant redwood forests. Built in 1878, the hotel is listed on the National Trust Historic Hotels of America.

Hotel Features. The Mendocino Hotel has three on-site dining options, one of which includes the award-winning Victorian Room Restaurant open in the evenings. The hotel café serves breakfast and lunch. There's also a hotel lounge that features a carved antique bar offer a bistro-style menu.
Guestrooms. The hotel retains its period feel through its Victorian-style guestrooms. One-half of the 51 guestrooms feature fireplaces, antique décor and balconies with ocean views. European-styled rooms feature bathrobes, in-room basins and shared bathrooms across the hallway. Other in-room amenities include cable television, high-speed Internet, coffeemakers, and complimentary newspaper. Pets are welcome in select rooms for a fee.
Expert Tip. Since in the 1900s, guests have been grabbing their smelling salts over what have been claimed to be ghosts hanging out in antique mirrors and bellied up at the hotel bar. The hotel's ghostly appeal made it the site for the 2006 California Ghost Hunter Conference.
